Get QuotationTravel to any part of the country today and the one consistent factor is the packaged water sold at bus stops, railway stations, road side stores and even airports. No seminar, event or compendium is complete without these packaged bottles dotting the table of the dignitaries and speakers.
Packaged drinking water is water from any source, which has been treated and disinfected, a process that could involve filtration, UV or ozone treatment or reverse osmosis (RO) and then packaged in bottles or pouches, either plastic or glass, for our consumption. For a product to be considered as “bottled water”, it cannot contain sweeteners or chemical additives (other than flavors, extracts or essences) and must be calorie-free and sugar-free. India’s packaged bottle water industry has been valued at Rs.60 billion in 2013, and this market is expected to reach Rs.160 billion in 2018. There are around 150 domestic Indian Bottled Water Brands in the market today.
When did packaged water become such an essential item, a commodity without which we find difficult to move around? What has spurred this industry to grow at this exponential rate?
A rise in health awareness, poor quality of tap water available, increase in tourism and the easy availability of bottled water have all contributed to the increase in the per capita consumption of bottled water in India today. The packaged water industry in the country is regulated and all bottling units have to obtain a license before they can operate. However illegal manufacturing units do thrive across the country, putting at great risk the health of the people. People can file a complaint to the regulatory authority against unauthorised water drinking plants.

Get QuotationWater Softening Plant - Industrial & Commercial
When water is hard, it can clog pipes, damage boilers, heat exchangers, and many other devices. Water softener system can prevent these negative effects. Hard water causes a higher risk of lime scale deposits in industrial, commercial and household water systems.
Due to this lime scale build-up, pipes are blocked and the efficiency of hot boilers and tanks is reduced. This increases the cost of water heating by about fifteen to twenty percent.
Another negative effect of lime scale is that it has damaging effects on commercial machinery, such as laundry machines, cooling towers. Water softening using a water softener system expands the life-span of each machine. It also contributes to the improved working, and longer lifespan of solar heating systems, air conditioning units and many other water-reliant systems.

RO Systems from FREEION ENGINEERING PVT. LTD. deliver high performance at low life-cycle costs, saving on energy and increasing proficiency. Our pre-engineered systems are manufactured and built with high quality components designed specifically for water purification. Our systems arrive at your facility ready to run with all filters, membranes, pumps, piping, controls and operating manuals.
Reverse osmosis produces freshwater needed for many industrial water treatment applications such as power and energy plants, refineries, boiler feed treatment, pharmaceutical and Beverages etc. Industrial RO is vital for the consistent productivity in these industries due to the likelihood of corrosive-related issues occurring within the facilities, specifically the equipment and machinery. As a result, industrial RO systems are generally used as pretreatment before other advanced methods that are comprised in the industrial water treatment process.
What is the difference between fresh tap, brackish, highly brackish and sea water?
The salinity (salt) concentration in water is the amount of dissolved solids in water by weight, as expressed in mg per liter or "parts per million" (PPM). The salinity concentration level can be categorized as follows:
|
Tap Water |
Low TDS up to 1,000 ppm |
|
Brackish Water |
Contains around 1,000 to 5,000 ppm. |
|
Highly Brackish Water |
Contains around 5,000 to 12,000 ppm. |
|
Ocean or Sea Water |
Contains around 12,000 to 45,000 ppm. |
Get QuotationMix Bed DM Unit - Industrial & Commercial
Mixed-bed deionizers are normally used to ‘polish’ the water to higher levels of purity after it has been initially treated by either a two-bed deionizer or a reverse osmosis unit. In mixed-bed deionizers the Strong Acid Cation and Strong Base Anion resins are closely mixed and contained in a single pressure vessel. The thorough mixture of resins in a single column makes a mixed-bed deionizer equivalent to an extended series of two-bed plants. As a result, the water quality obtained from a mixed-bed deionizer is appreciably higher than that produced by a two-bed plant.

With Moving bed Bioreactor (MBBR) application we offer advanced wastewater treatment solutions for the industrial and municipal markets. These solutions significantly increase the capacity and efficiency of existing wastewater treatment plants, while minimizing the size of new plant deployments.
The MBBR system consists of an activated sludge aeration system where the sludge is collected on recycled plastic carriers. These carriers have an internal large surface for optimal contact water, air and bacteria.
The bacteria/activated sludge grow on the internal surface of the carriers. The bacteria break down the organic matter from the waste water. The aeration system keeps the carriers with activated sludge in motion. Only the extra amount of bacteria growth, the excess sludge will come separate from the carriers and will flow with the treated water towards the final separator.
The system can consist of a one stage or more stage system, depending on the specific demands. The specific bacteria remain in their own duty tank because of the fact that the carriers remain in only 1 tank, protected by screens.
Design of MBBR SystemsIt uses a combination of activated sludge process i.e. suspended growth and biofilter i.e. attached growth. It uses the entire tank volume for biomass growth by implementing the carriers for attached growth of biofilm. Movement of carriers is enabled by air bubbles through agitation.
The reactor can be in any shape and support different load depending on carrier filling. MBBR design of reactor depended on the actual wastewater characteristics and locality. The plants come either with vertical or horizontal mounted rectangular mesh sieves. The reactor can also be fitted with cylindrical bar sieves.
Application of MBBRBiological Oxygen Demand (BOD) removal – It requires only one wastewater tank with the MBBR and clarification.
Nitrification – It uses two tanks one for BOD removal and the other for nitrification.
Denitrification – It uses four aeration tanks in this order before emptying in the clarification with pre denitrification, BOD reduction, nitrification and post denitrification.
